Shelve a Goal
In the world of work, change is a constant. There will be times when a goal needs to be put on hold. In CEO-S Software, we call this "shelving" a goal. You essentially put it on the shelf to be accessed at a later time.
When a goal is shelved, the goal data is preserved, but the goal no longer shows as active and updates can no longer be made to it.
We recommend shelving any goal that has been approved if it's no longer needed.
Managers and Individual Contributors are required to get approval before a goal can be shelved. CEOs can shelve goals without approval.
The CEO
As CEO, you can shelve a goal by selecting "Shelve" from the goal menu.
You'll be prompted for comments and then the goal will be shelved.
When the goal is shelved, it is no longer visible to anyone but you and will show in your goal list with a "Shelved" tag.
You can reactivate the goal by selecting the "Reactivate" button.
This will return the goal to an active status, remove the "Shelved" tag, and make it visible to all other employees.
The Manager and Individual Contributor
Choose the goal you want to shelve. Open the menu and select "Request to Shelve."
You can then enter comments and proceed with the request.
Once the request is submitted, you will see the status as "pending approval." The goal will display in your goal list as "Shelved" and will only be visible to you and your manager.
If you decide you need to unshelve the goal, you can select "Reactivate."
This will withdraw the "Request for Approval" and reactivate the goal. This will remove the "Shelved" tag and make the goal visible to everyone.
